Jaci Willis
Jaci Willis was born in Chillicothe, Illinois, the oldest of fifteen children. At twenty she worked three part-time jobs and went to night school to become a draftsman. When she divorced and remarried, she stayed at home and had two children before deciding to go back to school.
Jaci Willis received her sculpture M.F.A. in 2009 and is currently teaching at Bradley University. She is a board member of the Chicago Sculpture International, which strives to make sculpture accessible to the public and to open networks between sculptors. In her spare time she works on commissions geared towards positive growth in societies.
In 2011 she and Professor Fisher Stolz completed a large-scale bronze and stainless relief for Harrison School in Peoria, Illinois, consisting of bronze handprints from the community. Together they poured over 2,000 pounds of bronze for the project. Currently Willis is working with Stolz on a large-scale bronze figure of Coach A.J. Robertson for Bradley University. The sculpture will be unveiled in October 2012.
October 4, 2012, she had a showing of a large-scale stainless steel and glass sculpture on Lake Shore Drive, Chicago, Illinois.
