Cemetery Tour
In May 2011, a Cemetery Tour was led by local historian/author, John Hallwas, who donated his time. He told the history of many of the people buried in the cemetery, including the headstones of the notable women we plan to honor. Members of the committee sold tickets for $10 each. It is planned for 2012, by request.
Garden Walk
In June 2011, a Garden Walk was held with ten participating homes (two homes belonged to club members). All ten homes were in close proximity to each other so this allowed participants to park and walk to the homes and gardens. Each home had at least two club members present to record their attendance and to help the home owner guide the participants. Several homes provided refreshments to include lemonade, cookies and chocolate dipped strawberries, and one home had an artist painting (our very own Artist/Committee Member). Committee members sold tickets for $10 each. The committee has been asked to do this again.
Ice Cream Social
In August 2011, we held an Ice Cream Social with the newly elected Mayor, newly appointed WIU President and newly appointed Hospital CEO as honored guests. Western Illinois Museum donated the use of their facility and information on local notable women from the early 1900's was on display.
Card Party
In October 20111, a Card Party/Dessert was held at a local nursing home. Members & guests attended to play bridge, canasta and Mexican Train. Committee members invited others to attend for a $10 donation.
This event was repeated in February 2012.

High Tea
In November 2011, a High Tea was held at a local church. Club members and local ladies reserved tables for 8 which they decorated and set for guests they invited. Guests were met by two men dressed in tuxes. Committee members prepared and served 12 delicious English tea items in 4 courses and a special blend of tea. All $15 tickets were pre-sold. This was so well received, we were asked to do it again next year.
Raffle
In the fall, a raffle of a club member‘s original watercolor painting was held. The club member is a local artist who generously donated a large, beautiful painting of flowers. The painting was on display, advertised in the newspaper, with tickets available at meetings & banks.
